How to Install Attic Insulation In Your Home

The latest fad seems to be to “go green,” but for obvious other reasons like saving money, attic insulation is a very attractive addition to your home. I did quite a few energy efficiency tasks to help us save money on our energy bill. The first thing I did was purchase storm windows to add another layer of barrier from my windows to the outside. This certainly helped since the windows were a little drafty to begin with. The next thing I did was get foam insulation put under my peer and beam house which certainly helped keep the floors warmer, but didn’t put too much of a dent in my energy bill. That was because my attic was poorly insulated. I found areas where it was completely bare and it was at most 3″ thick at the most insulated parts. That is why I decided to get some attic insulation asap. I added in about 12″ of cellulose insulation which dropped my energy bill by over 30%! I was completely satisfied with the result and you can’t beat the cost either – only $650 for the whole attic.
